Eric Adams hugs the mother of the young girl who was killed on the Upper East Side.

At an Upper East Side vigil on Thursday night, Mayor Eric Adams consoled a distraught mother whose daughter had been shot while pushing her 3-month-old child in a stroller.

As mourners gathered close to the scene of the gunshot that killed 20-year-old Azsia Johnson on Wednesday night, Adams spoke to an emotional Lisa Desort.

Before the two addressed the group of mourners assembled at the candlelight vigil, the mayor could be seen hugging Desort.

Adams was once seen comforting Johnson’s grieving 7-year-old niece, who was donning a garment her murdered aunt had given to her.

Johnson was slain on Wednesday just before 8:30 p.m. as she strolled her infant daughter in a stroller close to the intersection of Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street.

According to family members and law enforcement officials who spoke to The Washington Post on Thursday, the baby’s father had allegedly assaulted the mother in the past, and police were looking for him to question him in the wake of the killing.

According to sources, the murder of Johnson in the form of an execution was “domestic.” The Post was informed by a senior police source that “she was targeted… There were burns from the powder and the headshot was near.

A grieving Desort requested that the city and police take domestic violence cases more seriously during the vigil.

She stated, “[I]t’s not the firearms, it’s the individuals shooting the guns,” adding that Adams was doing his best to combat crime in the Big Apple.

It involves treating domestic abuse seriously.

Adams continued by saying that because he had previously worked with Desort when she was an EMT in the city and he was an NYPD cop, the most recent incident had a personal touch.
