Dubai Mall: The Ultimate Shopping and Entertainment Destination
If you are traveling to Dubai, chances are you are planning a stop at the infamous Dubai Mall. The Dubai Mall is the second largest mall in the world. It contains over 1,200 shops, dozens of restaurants, and countless activities and entertainment options for you to enjoy. If you aren’t sold yet, The Dubai Mall was also the most visited building in the world in 2011 with just over 54 million visitors every year. The high turnout and spectacular entertainment proves this popular destination to be a must-see stop on your trip to Dubai.
If you are just passing through the city for the day, you will find locations for luggage storage in Florence, Paris, Dubai and more. You can use these locations to store your luggage for you while you get out in the city and see the sights. There is nothing worse than having to tote your bags around with you while you are trying to enjoy yourself, so make sure to look into luggage storage if you are just passing through.
Once you have your bags stored, or you have checked into your accommodation, then you are ready to head to the Dubai Mall. Being that there are so many things to do and see, it is easy to get overwhelmed by choice. If you need some recommendations, here are some of our favorite things to do when you visit the Dubai Mall:
- Burj Khalifa Observation Deck: One thing that you shouldn’t skip at the Dubai Mall is a trip to the top of the Burj Khalifa. The Burj Khalifa is the world’s longest skyscraper at 163 total floors. You can take a trip to the top of this record breaking building to experience 360 degree views of the entire city of Dubai. You will also find great photo opportunities and immersive virtual realities while at the observation deck. You can visit this attraction anytime between 8:30 am to 11 pm by entering at the ground floor of the Dubai mall.
- Dubai Fountain: The Dubai fountain is the centerpiece of the Dubai Mall. This magnificent fountain attracts hundreds of tourists everyday, especially for the 5-minute show which occurs at 1 and 1:30 for those who are visiting during the day. If you are lucky enough to be visiting the mall in the evening hours, you will get to experience a mesmerizing light show that utilizes 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors. This show occurs every 30 minutes from sun down until 12 am, so make sure to catch it in between browsing the shops and your dinner reservations.
- Ice Skating: Even if it’s hot outside, you can still enjoy a day of ice skating at the Dubai Mall. The Dubai Mall is home to an Olympic-size indoor skating rink. The skating rink is a part of the world’s largest indoor snow park. In fact, ice skating is just one of the many winter themed activities that the park has to offer. You will also find opportunities to go tobogganing, bobsledding, or skiing. You can also ride some rides, check out a penguin show, or try out the human hamster ball slide. This experience is great if you are traveling with kids or if you are looking for a fun activity to do in between sight seeing.
- Shopping: This one’s a given. You can’t leave the Dubai Mall without browsing the shops. Here you will find just about anything that you could ever need including clothes, footwear, skincare, furniture, and electronics. The stores vary between the standard storefronts that you can find at a normal mall, and some unique options that cannot be found anywhere else in the city. If you need something for yourself or if you are looking for souvenirs for your friends and family, you are guaranteed to find what you need here.
Planning Your Trip
You can get to the mall via Metro, bus, car or taxi. There is a Metro station right outside the mall so you will be able to walk right over should you use public transportation. If you want to try and avoid large crowds, go in the evening hours on a weekday. This is when the mall experiences the lowest volume of visitors. If you have control over the time of the year that you visit, the weather is best from November to April. These months may see larger crowds but the weather is far nicer than it is in the sweltering summer months. No matter what time of year you plan your visit, the Dubai Mall is sure to be an unforgettable experience on your trip to Dubai. Read more about Maelstrom Hiking Backpack
